03 · PATTERN BLOCK BUILDER

Your measurements, drafted.

Build a basic block (sloper) for a top, dress, skirt, pants or jacket, for women or men. Download it full size for a print shop, or as pages for your home printer, and take it to your tailor or dressmaker as the starting point for a perfect fit.

How to measure: wear fitted clothing and keep the tape snug, not tight. Nape to waist goes from the bone at the base of your neck down your spine to your natural waist. Back width runs across the back between the armpit creases, about 10–12 cm below the nape. Shoulder length runs from the side of the neck to the shoulder bone. Body rise: sit on a hard chair and measure from your waist, down your side, to the chair seat.

Every file includes a 10 cm test square. Seam allowances are not included.

WHERE TO PRINT IT

Print shops near you

01Download the print shop file.
02Ask for an engineering (blueprint) print, black and white, at 100% / actual size, on the sheet size written on the file.
03Before you leave, measure the 10 cm square. If it isn't exactly 10 cm, ask them to reprint without scaling.
